Contemporary practices in injury management and return to work

In a law enforcement context, injury management and return to work is a critical component to ensure operational strength. Furthermore, taking care of injured and ill employees demonstrates a genuine commitment to health and safety, reinforcing and maintaining a strong and positive organisational culture for safety. Yet, there are significant challenges in achieving positive injury management and return to work outcomes in this setting.

In this presentation, Tristan will describe the results of a comprehensive review project conducted with a major police jurisdiction and apply the lessons learned and best practices we discovered to other industries. He will summarise the results of over 100 interviews, a systematic literature review, and organisational surveys.

From the ground-breaking work completed by Tristan’s research team, he will also identify the tensions and paradoxes inherent within injury management and return to work, and present generic principles and practices that apply across industries.
