Safety Differently: Understanding Reality. Using triangulation to uncover work as done.
In recent years there has been great discussions around work ad imagined (what we think happens) and work as done (what actually happens). It is important to understand the reality of work for 3 key reasons. Firstly, having a clear picture of performance means we are making the right strategic decisions. Secondly, when reality is understood, change and solutions are more effective. Lastly, we are more successful at keeping our people safe.
While work as done is important, actually gaining insight and access to that reality is complicated. Triangulation is a practical methodology that collects and collates multiple sources of data to identify factors helping and hindering work.
This presentation presents the case study using the triangulation method to understand what impacts working near underground assets and how to prevent asset strikes.
