Charlton Clark is the General Manager Antarctic Operations & Safety at the Australian Antarctic Division and leads the team that runs Australia’s Antarctic stations, field programs, shipping, aviation, logistics and medical support. Charlton has worked in range of operational, policy and program roles over the past 20 years with a focus on national and international marine and Antarctic issues. From 2009 to 2015 he played a lead role in the establishment of Australia’s national network of marine protected areas and the strategic assessment of Australia’s marine environment.
Prior to joining the Australian Public Service, Charlton served as an officer in the Australian Army. Charlton has a Bachelor of Arts (politics and management) with Honours from the University of New South Wales and is a graduate of the Royal Military College, Duntroon and the Australian Defence Force Academy. Charlton has also completed the National Security College Senior Executive Service Development Program.
